Who is the player going to meet? A commander they need to trust, a companion they will spend hours with, an NPC whose three lines tell them quite a lot about the place they have arrived in. Each gives us a different casting question to answer.

VISHUDDHA finds actors for those people. We get to know your game, build auditions around the roles and listen with your team for performances worth developing.

Start with the world and its people

Before looking for voices, we talk to the creators, read the writing and lore, and explore the visual references. Where possible, we watch or play an alpha or vertical slice. Hearing what you want the player to feel helps us understand the tone much more clearly than a list of vocal qualities alone.

We look at each character's history, relationships, accent and register, alongside what they do in the game. Faction identity is particularly interesting here: what might people share in the way they speak, and where do individual personalities break through? Those details give the casting brief something specific to work with.

Give the audition a purpose

We choose material that lets actors show different sides of a role. An audition needs enough context for a performer to make decisions: who they are addressing, what has happened and what they want. It should also leave room for an interpretation we had not thought of.

Depending on the project, our casting work includes:

  • Character briefs covering personality, vocal qualities, accents and relationships.

  • Searching for suitable performers and organising dedicated auditions.

  • Selecting audition extracts that test the demands of the role.

  • Checking availability against the proposed recording schedule.

  • A shortlist with notes for your team to review.

We listen for an understanding of the writing, clear intentions and the ability to take the character somewhere. The comments explain what interests us in a performance and what we would want to explore further. If a callback would help, we give it a clear question to answer.

Hear the relationships

Choosing the cast means listening to how the voices sit together. Can we follow an exchange? Do the characters have distinct personalities? Does the humour belong to this game? We consider the whole cast alongside the strengths of each audition, then discuss the final choices with you.

Once those choices are made, actor preparation gives performers time to develop their understanding of the role. Voice direction carries that work into recording.

Characters, factions and an English cast

Sanctuary: Shattered Sun · English voices for the demo

TaVRn’s Takedown · LDLC VR · English voices

For the Sanctuary: Shattered Sun demo, our casting work included defining the vocal identity, analysing characters and factions, and selecting the English-speaking actors.

We also handled casting for the English version of LDLC VR's TaVRn's Takedown, a very different world with its own comic energy.

Some of the voices of TaVRn’s Takedown :1. Tracy Wiles (Abyssa). 2. Tim Downie (Narrator). 3. Andrew Wincott (Malteus). 4. Alessia Fallcosplay (Margaux).

Before we begin

Can you cast the remaining roles if some actors are already attached?

Yes. We take the existing cast and artistic direction into account, then agree which roles need a search and what the auditions should explore.

Does the script need to be finished?

We need enough material to understand the characters and build meaningful auditions. If the writing is still developing, we discuss which decisions are settled and which could affect casting.

Tell us who we will be meeting. Send an introduction to the game, its characters, languages and recording plans, and we can discuss the casting work it needs.
